Frequency Asked Questions

  • Psychological assessment or testing is a collaborative process whereby the client works with the psychologist to measure the presence of psychological symptoms, diagnose psychological disorders, and evaluate the degree that they are impacting one’s mood, academics or work life, social relationships, and overall wellbeing.

The psychologist also provides recommendations and resources based on the most current science to improve functioning and wellbeing!

  • Generally, psychological assessment at East Beach Psychological Services, P.C. follows this process:

    1. A 75-minute intake session during which the psychologist obtains a detailed review of the client’s symptoms and a general history as well as an understanding of the client’s primary referral question.

    2. A 2- to 5- hour testing session (occasionally separated into two sessions) to complete the appropriate psychological assessments. This may include cognitive tests, tests of academic achievement, tests of emotional functioning, tests of personality, and more.

    3. A one-hour feedback session during which the psychologist will explain any psychological diagnoses that were found, review recommendations, and answer any questions. You will be provided a detailed written testing report that summarizes and further elaborates on the findings.
